Welcome to my blog! I'm Karen Ann, one half of Coquette Creations, and I am a Canadian from Hamilton, Ontario, in the Great Lakes region of Canada. I now reside near Green Forest, AR, nestled in the beautiful Ozark Mountains. I live on a farm with a small flock of chickens, a handful of cattle, 1 donkey and 1 miniature donkey, and 12 goats. I tinker with watercolors and acrylic paints from time to time, but have found my passion in creating one-of-a-kind, handcrafted jewelry.
I began my jewelry creation journey after a car accident in 2010. I began by creating assembled jewelry from beads and chain, but felt the desire for a more creative and original medium. I took a precious metal clay course and found a wonderful passion, because pmc (precious metal clay) offered the ability to design anything I could imagine, and therefore I could now create unique and one-of-a-kind jewelry. From pmc, I then began exploring the possibilities of creating from copper and silver wire and sheeting. The image for this blog post is a mixed media piece, created from copper pipe and silver pmc. All aspects of this piece are handmade, including the rivets which attach the silver plate to the copper cuff.
More recently, I have expanded my creative platforms and added a diode laser and also a c02 laser to my arsenal. I use various programs to create my own designs, and then cut them on the lasers using wood and acrylic, which are much more lightweight compared to metal.
I hope you will follow along with me on my journey as I continue to incorporate new processes and mediums to express my artistic ideas and musings.
